#020 The Job Of A Zoo Vet With Dr. Ian Smith

And on today’s episode meet Dr. Ian Smith a zoo veterinarian at the Adelaide Zoo! 🦏🦒🐅🦓🐘🦍🐆 I had yet to meet Ian again as in August 2011 in my final year of vet school as one of my electives I did a zoo placement at Adelaide Zoo shadowing Ian for a month. It was fantastic! I absolutely loved it. Let’s find out what busy Ian and the Adelaide Zoo are currently up to… And how zoos play a role in conservation! 🍃🍃🍃

I want his job! His favorite animal is the rhino and lucky him he gets
to look after and be with a few. Zoos still have an important place in educating people about the world’s wildlife. They have also become much better habitats for these wildlife ambassadors. Thanks for the behind the scenes zoo peek.

Glad you enjoyed! Yes very much agreed that the zoo animals of today (depending on which country) are much better cared for then zoo animals have generally been kept in the past. I enjoyed the behind the scenes too…
