#017 The Great White Shark With Andrew Wright

And on today’s episode let’s meet Andrew Wright! Here in Port Lincoln it is the only place you can cage dive with Great White Sharks in Australia and I had to give it a go and I went with the knowledgeable and super friendly Andrew, a part owner of a successful cage diving business called Calypso Star Charters that is fully licensed by the Australian Department of Environment and Water and is Advanced Eco Certified recognising that they conduct their operations in a way that is environmentally conscious and sustainable whilst also providing an educational role. They are the only shark cage diving operator in Australia that is fully transparent with publicising current and historic shark sightings. Check out their fabulous Instagram account @calypsostarcharters to see some of their incredible upclose shark images and listen in as we have a chat about one of the great apex predators of the ocean, the Great White Shark.

Andrew is a great interview full of information..Sounds like they run a very good operation with minimal impact on the sharks.

What an experience to go down in a cage to see a Great White! Conservation of sharks is so important, especially when shark fin soup is on the menu in some parts of the world! The way this is done is so cruel as it’s only the fins that are needed and the rest of the shark is cast aside. Raising awareness and admiration can only be a good thing and a trip on Calypso Star facilitates this. Well done!
